As my guitar avatar might suggest, I love Elvis Costello, and I’m definitely biased. Even so, to say that EC hasn’t made a front-to-back great record after This Year’s Model is to have not listened to Armed Forces, Get Happy, Imperial Bedroom, Blood and Chocolate, and King of America. That story can still be told without Snoke on screen. It was a brilliant move to break with expectation. It’s like when Dallas dies in the middle of Alien and you realize that Ripley is the real hero for the first time. Dallas is important to Ripley’s back story. But it’s Ripley’s story, not his.

Rogue One was the best Star Wars film since Empire until TLJ. Force Awakens is better than the prequels by a lot, so that’s maybe a low bar, but I liked it. Solo was really entertaining and a great B-Movie Saturday at the movies. I have no major gripe with the 4 Disney Star Wars films so far.

TLJ was the best Star Wars film since Empire.

Solo was really fun, and I liked it a lot. I went in expecting nothing in particular and came out very entertained. It’s a Star Wars B-Movie, and I think that’s a great thing.
