Dont they though? Not mechanically but all the electronic bits do, and if you extend that to 15 years all the plastic bits go.

You ever try to use an infotainment system from 10 years ago?

my scion has an Ipod plug to interface with the stereo, it only talks to ipods up to about 2012 and doesnt like iphones at all

As

shooting brake hybrid

2 door wangon, give it gunner seats

world peace achieved

no, yeah the pinto thing

i mean you can poke holes in it and drive through fire all you want just dont get rear ended

if they made a 2 door hybrid itd be my next car methinks

my TJ solved this problem by just dropping its gas tank off in a parking lot. Cant immolate me if its not attached to the car!

now its held on with ratchet straps, the safest of all the straps

“I’d think that customers would revolt against such an idea in a car purchase.”

it wasn’t the best example, though i think your response highlights that a tesla is packed full of the tech of today, and i imagine that like a macbook air it won’t play nice with anything but OEM batteries with some DRM or some shit

Haha those bastards are glorious, i actually probably reached too far back with my luggable example, old computers are like old radios, they’ll survive the apocalypse.

Would you be able to roll y9our own batteries that would talk and play nice with the car? With modern laptops (i’m looking at you apple) simply wiring up a comprable voltage to + and - doesn't work, it needs talkback from the battery which presumably only an OEM battery could provide

right but would the car really have lived forever? A classic car with a modern engine isnt a classic car in my book.

I suppose

but is a tesla with roll your own baytteries different from a classic car with a modern engine?

because i dont consider a 20s hotrod with a modern engine to be a 20s car anymore

if the example lincoln had been modified to take a new engine or fuel i wouldnt consider it the same lincoln. savy?

Oh yeah but i dont want to damage the computer to make the modifications, if I had two maybe id do one but I figured the question was more along the lines of keeping stock

a 60s lincoln with a modern crate engine in it isnt really a 60s lincoln is it?

also anything that talks to its batteries (like modern laptops) are a

Yes, clutch at stopsigns is a big one

our big hurdle is hill starts, which constitute about 80% of driving here

and i’m talking ridiculous grades

Morgan

no way, i collect vintage electronics and the two things that keep me from using many antique machines are: batteries and firmware

and teslas have both batteries and firmware

specialized batteries go on an 80s luggable computer? your boned. they havent made em in 30 years and no modern batteries fit

the floppy disk with

Well I’m working at an ivy right now and I’ve got a couple undergrads who transferred in from CCs and they’re all excellent students.

Lol yeah I know, but I need to express my internet opinions NAO

Not my dad but my rusty rusty old jeep will just start with a key turn, and you need to buy it dinner and say the secret code to get her in gear.

I would agree with community college actually. I mean I didn’t get into any really useful labs until year three and four anyway, so spending the first two years at a cc wouldn’t really matter. All you really do year one and two in a lab is wash dishes and make media anyway.

Thats what editors are for!
