You’re telling a race car driver to go play golf. They’re not at all the same. PES has been losing clubs year after year and the leagues available in those games are sub-par at best.

They don’t play the game because it’s a soccer game. They play FIFA for the teams and likeness of the soccer players

It’s an investment. Sure, you don’t care, but others do. It’s the same as replacing a character like Solid Snake and making you play as Raiden for 75% of the game.

That misses the entire appeal of modern sports games. This isn’t the NES anymore where every team is a generic pallet swap. Being able to play as “your” team with the real players is why people buy those games.

PES, if I’m not mistaken, has lost a lot of official licenses to FIFA over the years, which has really hurt its standing. I feel like we’re one step away from EA achieving with FIFA what it did with Madden and essentially shutting down all competition for soccer sports sims.
