I mean by the standards of clickbait bullshit, “FOC: The Snyder Cut Is Good” doesn’t seem like it would cut it, because it doesn’t seem especially contrarian, based on the range of reviews I’ve read. But, then again, now that the definition of “clickbait” has been revised to “any opinion that makes a dipshit…
The real innovations that get me excited are design related — smarter AI, dynamic procedural storytelling, much deeper systems and mechanics. But as the industry again showed this gen, developers aren’t interested in doing that kind of work because it’s a lot harder than making your open world bigger and your controls…
It reminds me of THAT scene in Bioshock Infinite, where at the tail end of the beautiful and serene opening, the main character Booker skyhooks a man to the face, grinding it to mush and blood. Ken Levine said much the same about it being a commentary on the shocking, brutal and quick nature of violence. I just saw it…
The problem with “VIOLENCE IS HORRIBLE” in an open-world game with crafting and progression is that inevitably the horror of “that man will bleed so much when I stab him” is replaced with “I bet that dude has six flange bolts and a magazine of 9mm ammunition.” When you create a resource ecology as part of your…
Everything in The Last of Us II takes work. Every weapon reload, killing blow, and crafted item takes time and button presses. At times the game is painfully slow; even in the most action-packed sections you put in effort to move things forward.

When you factor in the boob physics, hip sway, seductive walk, playful giggles when sneaking, sexually charged moans when taking damage, make-up application animations, entirely new costumes and outfits that all show off midriff/cleavage/thighs, and a host of other problems it’s painfully clear how much extra work…
I mean, George Lucas already made another trilogy, which wasn’t even bad weird, but just... bad and boring.
Right? The last Bioshock game was Infinite by Ken Levine and the rest of the studio that made Bioshock 1 and I’d trust a random stranger to make a better Bioshock game than that.
I’ve never read an Alan Moore comic but this makes me want to:
Haha I like this comment
wild that the first good video game ever made also generated the best game review i’ve ever read
If anyone wants to hit up ole’ Jimmy Spanny himself and ask him what the fuck is going on, here’s his number! 917-881-5965
See, you can feel that sort of thing, but NEVER cop to it. :D
May I suggest a new Deadspin mascott, Sticky; The Stick-to-Sports Stick. Sticky lives in Jim Spanfeller’s butt.
rude of the email of the week to make me cry tbh.
They are either monumentally incompetent, or so monumentally petty as to be throwing millions of dollars down a black hole to destroy the site as revenge for some sort of perceived slight.
Good dogs; good blogs.
