I tried...

“What do you think is the best sedan you can buy right now?”

I was hoping this would going to be some sort of Lettuce leaf composite similar to the Banana leaf cars in Africa.

gotcha, thanks

“The opening episode on the new Top Gear season reached 4.3 million people while this weeks episode only managed to reach an average of 2.8 million,”

interesting. How far back did Subaru start using CVTs? I was looking to get something bigger than my vibe to fit a 3rd kid and really like the 03-09 outbacks.

If phased in properly, there’s no reason it couldn’t be the next Hyundai or Kia (I’d say Scion.... but that’s not longer a great example). Well priced, attractive cars/Suvs. Maybe some verbage as “from the makers of Audi” rather than “A VW brand you can believe (in)“

Have you seen Paddle CVTs? I’ve only seen the auto-stick bump shifter (which I hate on any auto)

Nice.

My goal is to just restore my dart, 4 door as it is (my great-grandparents bought it new) and toss in fuel injection and just keep it going. No depreciations (even the 4 doors are going up these days) and with no payment the fuel mileage isn’t as big a deal.

I’ve heard the Volt’s CVT isn’t bad. I figure Electrics/hybrids just have a more stable torque curve which is easier to manage with the CVT.

Yeah, if CVTs are going to be the standard “auto” option on cars, I think I’ll be going vintage from now on. I’ve gotten pretty good at working on 4th gen Chrysler vans so I may as well just keep getting those as risk upgrading. Even with the newer VVT DOHC engines and 6spd autos, they haven’t picked up a single mpg

I have to say, everyone was going crazy about the current fusion when it came out, but it just looked like a chubby Aston Martin to me, the 1st gen was so much sleeker.

I’ve got to say, I have never driven a Subaru since they went CVT, but from a previous Anti-CVT post I made, it sounds like Subs are about the closest to having a “decent” CVT, the Chevy Volt being another (though I think that’s from it having a steady torque band from the electric drive motors). But nobody was

That sucks... I wanted to like the Patriot, having had an XJ, it had the look, but nothing else to back it up. May have to check out a Renegade sometime.

Anything with a CVT (except maybe a subaru)

Since I just don’t have the means or time to tackle this myself (Unless I can turn it into a playground component) I thought I’d share this for others.

Not enough information to draw conclusions. Did the nissan deserve it? Beats me. Did the truck do something stupid, well... yes. Did the white car deserve to be involved in the altercation? Probably not.

I’ve never had a drop of alcohol in my life and found his wine show extremely fascinating.
