Yeah, this is a movie with an immaculate sense of tone and dread. The first half is horrifying with all its promises of evil about to reveal itself.

You’ve described my plans for this weekend so accurately, down to the edible, that I’m forced to wonder if you are actually a time traveling me from next Monday.
I’ve never felt more seen
I don’t know what the hell Eddie Munster did to my table!
That’s pretty much been South Park over the last ten years now. It’s pretty much like The Simpsons and Family Guy as far as in stuck in zombie mode, running just to make money and ratings for the network and nothing else.
Agreed, I had a free Paramount+ sub for a few months so I watched the specials and I found them to be between meh and just bad, not even funny bad just bad bad.
The last few specials haven’t been that great. They feel like the kind of thing that billionaires who’ve gotten old and lost touch with what “the kids are on about” would write. I don’t see any of these “specials” outliving their small cultural moment.
They will never stop talking about Boondock Saints.
Olivia Rodrigo’s team would “prefer” no one interfere with the creation of new Olivia Rodrigo fans.
Here’s a take: he’s never really topped Memento.
I think it’s great that celebrities and the powerful have co-opted therapy languange to the extent that we’re expected to nod along when a comedian says it’s traumatic to be a movie star with a 12 pack.
Fair point. I just don't know where getting bad reviews unexpectedly would fit along the spectrum of what I consider to fit within the definition of trauma. I'm not sure it would be on there, but I appreciate that opinions are like arseholes and we all have one.
“But why report this drivel? Who the fuck cares, AV Club?”
I feel there’s a middle ground here between not completely denigrating the effort that goes into acting and filmmaking, but perhaps not overstating the impact of bad reviews with the word “trauma,” in a world full of significantly more debilitating and life changing examples of that.
I always try to be sympathetic of mental health issues; as someone with depression, anxiety, and ADHD, I get that keeping your head together is a tough business. And seeking therapy is always to be encouraged, whatever the reason that gets you there.
You want an in-story answer? Ok.
For what I’ve heard, she’s more of a Snooki fan.
Have you met my AI girlfriend, Georgina Glass?
My favorite part of the “We can’t kill anyone” philosophy Jaime insists on is the subsequent total disregard Milagro has when she has the Blue Beetle (Tank?) stab through some guys while charging the fortress. There’s just a trail of dead bodies left in its wake.
I don’t really understand what’s going on here but the guy who came to the house three nights in a row to evict possums from our basement is the real hero.
