He’ll always be The Waffler to me.
I enjoyed his show, greatly respect Mr Rogers and think that the world would be a better place if more people followed his example and died in 2003.
Probably in the minority here, but I think it’s fair for an athlete not to want to take part in someone else’s political speech - not wearing the jersey isn’t that different than not wanting to stand for the anthem. This isn’t a private team, it’s the USWNT, for all intents and purposes an arm of the state.
After all, Chick-Fil-As don’t seem to be going anywhere; recent estimates have the chain set to take over the No. 3 spot in fast food, surging past Wendy’s, Burger King, and Taco Bell to get closer to McDonald’s and Starbucks.
At this point can’t they just kill her off in an offscreen car accident and have Sandy Duncan lead “the Connor Family”
Take your fucking star and get out.
If you didn’t make it to the “Horse in a hospital” bit, you did yourself a great disservice.
Justin’s article left out the fact that she was crossing legally and on a pedestrian ramp.
Hey, why don’t you fucking read the story there internet wiseguy. I bet you are always correct and super informed, aren’t you?
I actually don’t think the twist is the point of that movie, to be honest. I think it’s a much better film if you try and just follow the characters than waiting to be wow’ed by a mindblowing twist. What that movie says about the concept of love is far more interesting than a chintzy surprise.
Both the premise and twist are weirdly similar to a young adult novel called “Running Out of Time” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Running_Out_of_Time_(Haddix_novel), which I read in like fourth grade and found similarly cringe-worthy then. (To be fair, this was partly because the original author out-Shyamalaned…
It’s not the predicable twist that makes it a bad movie, it’s the boring and ultimately pointless narrative leading up to the predictable twist. Signs had a twist that tied into the themes of the film, even if it was executed questionably, where The Village didn’t really have a thematic through line to begin with but…
he addresses this in his first special “new in town” and how he sounds like a carnival barker.
You just think everyone’s from the 40s, don’t you?
I first saw him through his SNL hosting gig, which I really enjoyed (a rarity for me with SNL in modern times). I think that helped ease the landing into his more rapid-fire standup.
Yeah, I’d say this special is pure-heroin Mulaney. At this point, he’s really leaning into the Mulaney thing, and if that’s a bit too much for you, his first two specials would be better entry points. I’d especially recommend New in Town.
One time I saw the end of a commercial for a movie starring someone I didn’t quite recognize. So I didn’t go to the movie.
