Do you know how expensive it is to life in Northern CA? We have a working homeless population.

I strongly disagree. In the books, the focus is on Theon because he’s a main character, and Jeyne is a minor character. The best thing the show could do if they wanted to avoid introducing more minor characters was to leave the rape out completely.
...I am also a woman. How many layers does it go? :)
Great, thanks for answering!
Just curious... did you talk to any Japanese critics who were women? Did you talk to any Japanese critics who identified as feminist/womanist?
This isn’t Hilary’s fault, but the pollsters were doing a really bad job. I’m still so angry that they were doing such a bad job. They weren’t correlating their errors. Fuck them.
This is the problem with looking at history to evaluate Communism. We have no unbiased experiment, because the US and Russia were all up in everyone’s business all the time. Possibly successful Communist countries were intentionally sabotaged, etc, etc. So we basically just have a sample size of 1: Russia vs. US,…
This made me cringe with how close it hit to home.
Also anti-bullying campaigns are never going to be useful unless we address the underlying causes of bullying: fatphobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, racism. This “anyone can be bullied” attitude is total garbage.
Children who have followed his example in high schools have gotten death threats.
Wow you are painting with a broad brush, my friend.
It’s fair to critically analyze any religion, and in the process you will identify flaws. The longer a religion has been around (and the more people involved in the religion), the more statistically likely it is that some of those flaws will be upwards fluctuations in…
If you want to see change, I bet you dollars to doughnuts there are union openings in elected positions. In our union, we typically run unopposed because there is so little interest in volunteering time for the union. You could try going to union meetings (at which you get to vote on various resolutions) or talking to…
UC being University of California. A large structure that holds several universities (UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Merced, UCSC, UC Riverside)
Well, there are two dues. One is required of all employees, and the other is an additional due you sign up for if you become a member. For grad students, these fees have been more than made up for with an increase in our paycheck due to contract negotiations.
Another great thing about a union: in our last contract we…
I’m a grad student and in a union that protects TA’s. In practice, what really happens is some kind of compromise between what’s actually in the contract vs. the culture of your department. Still, having the contract does move the goal posts.
Unions are great for graduate students! I’m also in UAW, and only rarely does the larger union interfere in our affairs (except for vetoing our local’s Divest, Boycott, and Sanction of Israel resolution which passed with an overwhelming majority. An interesting story, but barely applicable to most grad student life).
Postdocs are unionized at the UC! :)
Agreed. I’m a graduate student at a UC and we are partially unionized. When we are TA’s, we in a union. When we are paid for research, however, the UC says we’re not employees. So I know what it’s like on both sides of the aisle, and let me tell you, it is BETTER to be in a union.
AHS is at its best when it has a shitshow of horror tropes colliding in one episode.
If you flush that comment out, it could become the type of quality fanfiction I am here for. Get it
