Not sure I follow why anyone would “run away” from the Shield... We’ve never (to my knowledge) heard any sales figures on any of their devices whatsoever, but they must be doing well enough for them to keep cranking out new versions of them every couple years.

I’m not delusional enough to think most people on the

Hah, for sure. I’ve tried playing Goldeneye, Turok, and a few other 64 games through emulation (Wii VC, PC , etc), and man... that is not a walk in the park. That gamepad is just not something you can fake.

Sure, but I’m not even talking about re-releases... You can put a physical Ps1 disk in a half-dozen different systems and play it perfectly on any of their controllers.

N64 has some ports, and some games that don’t require that (incredibly bizarre) stick and button layout, but otherwise, you’re kinda up the creek

Sure, in specific cases. (Ocarina is spectacular on 3DS as well.)
But I wouldn’t call it the norm, especially when it comes to the FPSs and whatnot.

I’ve got an NVidia Shield that I do most of my retro console gaming on these days, and N64 games that play well on that (awesome) controller are a very limited bunch. On

I’m sure nostalgia is a huge part of it, especially when it comes to Nintendo products, but I would image another massive factor in people buying them over PS1s is that owning that console is the only legitimate way to play N64 games at all...

Every Playstation prior to Ps4 (including Vita) can play Ps1 games, not to

Because God of War is a combat-focused linear action game with some light rpg elements (and QTEs.) I put that more in a similar camp to a Devil May Cry than a Zelda. Action heavy, almost arcade style games.

Darksiders plays almost exactly like the 3D Zelda games do (Ocarina, Majora, WindWaker, etc..) It’s a pseudo

I’ve always took it to mean that it’s a linear open-world... Essentially that you need specific skills/items to progress through the world, which are earned through that progression. There will generally be backtracking, and revisiting areas repeatedly with your new skills/items.

Bascially the same concept as a

Couldn’t disagree more. “Vanilla SF2” (World Warrior) online play would have made me instantly buy this. Without it, I have much less interest.

Btw, as has been posted in other comments, it’s not the case anyway, the online games are SF2T (Hyper Fighting), SSF2T, SFA3, and Third Strike.

Gah! Well, I appreciate the correction, because when I saw that it had SF2:TWW online play I was immediately willing to buy all these games yet again just to have that. Damn.

I wasn’t talking about the physical aspect of theft, because that wasn’t in your argument... I’m saying using the “the original creators don’t see a penny” or the “I can’t buy this today anyway”, arguments are silly hills to die on, because that’s true of massive amounts of things in a capitalist/consumer culture that

I wasn’t talking about the physical aspect of theft, because that wasn’t in your argument... I’m saying using the

You realize that virtually everything in your argument could be said about a used car...

You realize that virtually everything in your argument could be said about a used car...

It disturbs me how many recommends there are on this comment, as it perfectly illustrates what a massive disconnect there is between reality and gamer perception...

Companies aren’t “forcing loot boxes and microtransactions”, they are doing what they need to keep their doors open in the face of exponentially

I’m sure there’s racism everywhere, and I’m sure it’s way more noticeable if you’re a member of an oppressed or disenfranchised race/group that I am not, but Albany has always seemed rather progressive to me, and I’ve lived all over NY.

Hell, pretty sure Albany (and the greater Capital District) is only like 60- some

Again, you’re conflating emulation with piracy... You clearly know they are different things, so why even make the comparison?

Not one word of this article is in any way suggesting or encouraging piracy. Emulators don’t pirate software, pirates use pirated software on emulators.

Again, you’re conflating emulation with piracy... You clearly know they are different things, so why even make the

Fun bit of trivia... It’s not “Chhh chhh chhh ahhh ahhh ahhhh”, it is actually “Ki, k,i ki; ma, ma, ma.” It is meant to resemble Jason’s voice saying “Kill, kill, kill; mom, mom, mom.”

- Says the guy who composed it anyway. (Harry Manfredini)

Not really. There are perfectly legal roms, and you always have the option of dumping your own, which is also legal. Of course that is not what most people are going to do with this, but the option exists, making giving directions on how to go about it totally fine.

It would be no different than saying, “here’s how

Not really. There are perfectly legal roms, and you always have the option of dumping your own, which is also legal.

Wowza. This comment is virtually the perfect encapsulation of everything wrong with gamer culture... Kudos to you sir for so poignantly expressing every ugly, entitled, nonsensical argument ever uttered on the interwebs in regards to not getting something you think is owed you simply for being a consumer... who is

Not really... It would be kind of unsafe to have you sprinting around your house blindfolded. You’re still moving around, ducking, leaning, turning 90° (each way) to look, taking a step or two in a direction, etc.. They just don’t often make you literally turn around and walk behind you.

Hah, same here. I keep seeing these posts about how current owners are going to feel duped or lament their purchases... yet I don’t see any actual owners saying that. This update means nothing to me. Even if I had this HDR issue, I would have solved it a year ago with a cheap third party switch box, same as I had to

Not sure I’d call it “duping” exactly... I don’t even have an HDR supported display device, so this means nothing to me. Also, even if you did need what this update offers, you wouldn’t have to replace your unit, there’s nothing here an external switcher couldn’t have solved for $15.

This is just for people who might
