The problem there is that Amazon has yet to setup a way to add a sequence of events to an activity. IFTTT can do it though, it’s just not super-intuitive. You have to just keep assigning actions to the same trigger event.

For example, I created an IFTTT event called “Welcome Home” that I then tied several actions to,

Worth noting, Harmony also put out a second skill you can attach to Alexa a few weeks back, featuring a lot more actions. (Harmony: Optimized for Smart Home (blue icon)) Things that don’t work in the original one such as “Play/Pause”, adjusting volume, etc...

Hah, I don’t think so... I have the same setup. Pretty sure using that naming convention you’d have to say “Computer, On Screen, on”, or “Computer, turn on, On Screen”

You could just name it Screen, but then I think your options would just be “Computer, Screen, on”, or “Computer, turn on, Screen.”

You could use IFTTT

How would toggling the power outlet turn a tv on? I have several WeMo switches; they are literally just like flipping the on/off button of a powerstrip. I don’t follow how that could turn on a TV, unless it’s from 1978 and still has knobs...

I have analog devices attached to mine that can remain in the on position

Some things are just novelty, like telling it to pause a movie, (versus just pushing pause on the remote), but having the power of an automated assistant, as well as just all the information on the internet at your beck and call, anywhere in your house... simply huge. I constantly ask it for weather or traffic

Only when I have nostalgia for the feel of the controller itself, or there’s no benefit from playing it through newer means...

Like, I’m with you on the 2600, because that horribly stiff-as-a-board joystick is a big part of the feel of those games, and they really don’t benefit that much from being uprezzed to 1080p

The possibility of it is perceived as needing those safeguards. That doesn’t mean it’s the legitimate majority experiencing it. And to be fair, there is not a universal adoption of the teleportation model yet. The better games (Resident Evil, Windlands, etc) offer the option.

I personally think it’s actually more that

Not sure I agree with your police work there, Dan...

I used to hear stories all the time (in the early-mid 90s) of Polygonal gaming making people motion sick, especially in FPS... (Found footage movies used to be cited as causing it as well.)

Regardless though, I’m dying to see your data source for “the overwhelming

Hah, yeah... That’s funny, cuz there’s no such thing as gaming on a Shield without a power cable, Tablet or not... The Shield Tablet will actually drain the battery even while plugged in, unless you get a Quick-charge plug.

I hear you though; I wasn’t seriously suggesting it as a better alternative, that’s just how I

You could alternately just get a really long HDMI cable and move the Shield closer to you... That’s what I do with my Shield Tablet when it’s in console mode. 10' HDMI cable and it sits right next to my chair. Between that and the length of the DS4's cord it should cover just about any distance.

Heh, I’m not about to

I just used it wired through an OTG adapter, but I could swear I’ve seen instructions on how to pair it too... Might need root though, I never investigated.

Wired worked fine for me, but I was playing on the Tablet. I could see that being a bigger issue with the TV...

Well, it’s obviously just a play on “The New Challengers” subtitle from SSf2, but implying, like, hey, can you believe it? We’ve got another version of this, and it’s the last version of this game we’re ever going to make...

I dunno, I guess I could see wanting more from it, but that’s the exact opposite of why this

They’e already shown images of Evil Ryu and Violent Ken, and I would imagine Akuma will just be selectable rather than the crazy bullshit way you had to get him in original SSF2T.

I can’t really see them adding anyone else. At that point you’d just play Alpha 3. This is Sf2, and that’s exactly what I want from it.

USF2 is seriously the most exciting gaming news I’ve heard in years...

I will crush these no good millennial online fighting game bastards under my boot... Their 200 hit combos will not be there to save them now! Maniacal laugh.

I’m old.

The DS4 doesn’t play nice with Android? I mean, I love my Shield Controller with a passion and all, but while I was waiting for it to arrive I exclusively used a DS4 with my Shield Tablet, and I had zero issues with it.

Played all manner of MAME fighting games spectacularly, which is a pretty solid benchmark for any

I never suggested the “install” itself was any faster; I’m saying it’s (infinitely) faster to install from optical media than it is to download a game from PSN. I don’t think that’s debatable.

I am well aware that some games do let you play part of it while it is downloading (some do that with disk-installs too), but

As long as your Ps4 is functioning, you can still play your disk-based copy (after install) regardless of network conditions or patches needed. The only thing it stops you from doing is playing online if you haven’t finished updating it yet...

I still buy on disk, and it has nothing to do with trade-in value or

Not exactly... The sticking point for me is still download time versus disk-install.
Yes, most of the time you’ll need a patch, but I can still install a full retail game off a disk in an hour or less and play it while waiting. Downloading one takes all damn night thanks to PSNs insanely slow speeds.

Well, I never suggested the toys aren’t nice... I think they are some of the slickest figure designs/styles I’ve ever seen.

According to them though, the main problem was the deals they had to make on things like Guardians of the Galaxy where they were forced to make figures like Yondu and Ronan, despite knowing they

Hah, I have that monstrosity myself, and I totally forgot I did until just now... It’s in a closet somewhere, still in its original box.

Has got to be the single most useless peripheral I ever bought, but damn if it doesn’t look cool.
