You’re making the mistake of thinking an AI will even superficially resemble a human mind. It might even not be “conscious” at all. A phrase I’ve heard is something to the effect of “We could create a god wherein the lights are on but nobody is home”.

OK, so, I know I started this whole thread listing a few of the things that could go catastrophically wrong when we invent AI, so this may sound weird, but; Looking at humanity on a broad scope, inventing AI has a very good possibility of being the best thing we’ll ever do.

Once the AI designs the robots for you, it’s purely a matter of logistics until contractors switch to mechanized employees. To emphasize again, human brains cannot possibly fathom how quickly even our home PCs can process information (we can understand in an abstract, numerical sense, but not experientially). We can

So I’ve listened to enough very smart people debate AI to understand that Elon Musk and other people like him* aren’t so concerned with Terminator-esque scenarios. There are other major ramifications to creating an intelligent, laterally thinking mind that processes information at roughly one million times the speed

Thank goodness those people are all wearing shoes. I’m glad McLaren is a safety conscientious workplace.

It’ll be interesting to see how they keep snipers from being OP, unless they remove suppressors from all the sniper rifles in the game. In single player, enemies stop rendering at 650 meters, but I’ve seen youtube videos of people hitting out to 3 km in co-op(albeit with some trickery).

You mean the guy who just a couple weeks ago suggested we throw away “compromise” as an idea(i.e. literally the foundation of civil discourse and Western civilization) might’ve been wrong about something? Preposterous.

Everyone knows about SEALs, but hardly anyone remembers Delta Force (apart from maybe knowing they were the guys with black helmets in Black Hawk Down), and most people have never even heard of Force Recon (getting noticed counts as an unsuccessful mission after all).

He’s from about 300 years after the Sengoku Era, as well.

That’s literally the only plan that has any chance of not curtailing our freedoms (like an all out propaganda war would). But fuck that shit, we’re gonna reopen coal mines.

.50 BMG was originally designed (together with the M2) towards the end of WW1 specifically as an anti-aircraft round. Granted, you’re much more likely to hit a moving aircraft with a M2 than a M107 simply because you can put more rounds downrange, but it’s possible.

I don’t think anyone in the military has ever, or will ever, deny we shoot people with .50 BMG. We wouldn’t have thousands of M2 HMGs mounted on Hummers, M1A2 Abrams, Bradleys, Strykers, LAVs, MRAPs, Blackhawks, Chinooks, and dozens of other vehicles I can’t think of off hand, if we were squeamish about shooting

MAD still works with North Korea. If the DPRK launches a nuclear attack at the South or Japan, its remaining time as a country could be measured in minutes, maybe an hour or two at most. From what I understand about North Korea, although they closely resemble a theocracy in their worship of Kim Il-sung, they don’t

When you’re talking about nuclear warfare, missile defense systems are, near as make no difference, pointless. A system that is 95% efficient only requires ~20 missiles to defeat. Even a 100% efficient system can be defeated simply by burning through its supply of kill vehicles. It is, and always will be, cheaper to

I totally forgot about Zaeed, which is probably telling, but I’d put him in a slightly different category to the other guys, since he’s DLC only, and you can’t really have conversations with him like vanilla characters. I’d still say Liam has the best written character arc(of the human males). Even so, yeah,

You might not have liked his personality, but he actually had a personality. That alone makes him a better character than Kaiden, Jacob, and... umm... that one guy from ME3.

From what I understand, our ballistic missile defenses our actually largely ineffectual. And even with a system that’s as high as 95% efficient (which our’s aren’t), it’ll only take roughly twenty missiles to bypass. And when you’ve got nuclear warheads, you only need one to get through to wipe out a city.

Everybody in America knows we kill civilians on a regular basis. It’s a point of national shame. You do realize, however, that part of our bloated military budget is poured into more and more precise weapons so we can minimize civilian casualties, don’t you? You do understand that ISIS and Al Qaeda place military

With that NFL money, he can even afford to buy all the dlc.
