I’m really glad to see comments like yours that prove I’m not crazy for wondering what in the holy hell I was reading.

So glad I’m not the only one who thought so. I read the above comment and was like “What—?”
Yeah, anyone who “pranks” someone with a crashing fucking plane can go straight to hell.
All the stars. Genius.
You’re missing the option where cops use their training to become a positive force for de-escalation. When someone is undergoing a mental episode, they aren’t always going to be able to bring themselves out of it, no matter how much “opportunity” they have. We need to train cops in tried-and-true de-escalation…
Wait, failed to inform the customer of the bad brakes? That doesn’t sound like what’s being discussed here.
Yeah, I guess I could leave if I didn’t want to keep being employed and receiving a paycheck. You know, as the person who was in charge of the center, it was totally my prerogative to bail when the shit went down. By that logic, a cop could leave the scene rather than shoot the individual. I was there to keep order.
“Why are you making my hit you?? Don’t you know I love you?? You’re FORCING me to do this”
I worked with mentally ill people for almost ten years, in a non-hospital setting, so there were no security guards or cops to protect me. You know what I had to save me? My de-escalation training. People got distressed and distraught all the time, and I had to talk them down. With my words.
If a male teacher were making these exact same comments and got fired for it, you can bet Jezebel would have six articles delving into every aspect of the guy’s history, his social media profiles, his tweets, the whole nine, making him seem like an evil predator.
When it comes to high school students’ dress codes it seems like we’re more than willing to listen to children about such things.
Isn’t it well known that Tinder was developed in an incubator as a method of burning people out on “casual” dating so they’d be funneled to one of IAC’s more “commitment centric” sites? And then they after-the-fact tried to make it look like it was just developed by a couple of bros (and one woman) like they came up…
I mean, he’s been pretty inflammatory before, but I think this is the first time he essentially referred to an entire group of people as rapists and criminals. It’s kind of on a whole ‘nother level than his usual bloviations.
I think the idea is, the BRZ/FR-S is a really fun great car that costs just a smidge too much. If this cuts costs which in turn lowers prices, it may make the Toyobaru more appealing?
From experience, I can tell you those rubber bumpers are pretty good. I once backed into my friend’s 85.5 944 (don’t ask) and all that needed to be replaced was the shock absorber for the bumper on one side. It crumpled, but the bumper was fine and without a scratch.
I’m surprised the NFL allowed their actual team names to be used considering this show seems to be about how post-NFL players often end up destitute and broke (financially and physically).
I tend to agree. I wasn’t trying to tear you down, just saying how prevalent and accepted this kind of behavior is in the art world. I ain’t fer it, I’m again’ it!
Eh, I mean I understand the intent behind it and I can appreciate that, but there’s always something a bit lazy about making art that merely comments on other art. That’s just my take though. I don’t think that’s what this guy’s doing, but the precedent for appropriation is there, and that’s what makes people think…
Yeah, that was my biggest issue with Richard Prince. It was lazy, crappy art, even from a contextual standpoint. His added context was basically to creep on women, and whatever comment he was making about privacy or over-sharing or a lack of intimacy in modern times is far from as cutting edge as he seems to think it…
It’s likely, in the case you describe, that no one would think you were attempting to pass off the actual Picasso as your own, as nearly everyone in the art world is familiar with Picasso. It’d likely be viewed as a critique on Picasso, and given a pass for the same reason this dude’s work is: “transformative” and…
