I agree with your last sentence completely, but I’m a pragmatic Gen-X’er, and can’t see us giving up capitalism for democratic socialism anytime soon... I didn’t want to oversell my heart on the matter. A progressive tax with a guaranteed income check would be my dream scenario.

A tax on your income of 10%... okay, yeah. Rich Person A actually only spends 70% of their income, so getting taxed 10% is no biggie. Poor Person B spends 100% of their income, so being taxed 10% is a big deal to them.
