The cell series was a pretty janky mess of powerups.
The cell series was a pretty janky mess of powerups.
They’ve been showing this form in the opening credits for weeks.
You’re the first person I’ve seen say that it’s obvious how it’s going to end so out of curiosity, how do you believe it’s going to end?
The SNES is old. As much as I love the first Mario Kart, going back and loading up the Mode 7 graphics of Bowser…
How important is the design of game icons, the visual indicators of the titles available to launch from our…
Atlus isn’t trying to shutdown the emulator itself, but the patreon page run by them. Emulators sure as shit aren’t inherently illegal, and the vast majority of companies tend to avoid going after the emulators themselves. The problem is that the people in this project used Persona 5 footage and photos/videos in the…
Oh come on. I like Atlus and I want to support them. So instead of telling them about what platforms I can play it on, I should just buy a copy “even if I’m not going to play it on my Sony device”? Won’t that just confuse Atlus even more, cause they’ll think that their entire customer base in on Sony.
That’s assuming that the person in question has a PS4 or PS3. If you are solely a PC gamer Persona 5 is absolutely not worth buying a console for. Just port the damn game, exclusives are bullshit.
...eh, I don’t exactly see anything wrong with a company saying “don’t use our IP to advertise your program that’s used to play pirated versions of our products”.
Wasn’t a big part of the issue that the emulator was being advertised using Persona 5 characters? Not just that the game was being emulated, but that the artwork and characters created by Atlus were being prominently used to advertise the emulator as well?
Nah, I’m a gamer and I know gamers can be pretty damn toxic
You’re right, the toxic culture of harassment and hate that surrounds basically every aspect of gaming is totally the fault of the people making games, not the terrible people that play them. Listen to yourself. “It’s okay to threaten to murder someone if a game has a different level of detail between E3 and release.”…
This guy just showed us a perfect example of the people discussed in the main article. To a “T”.
So, what you’re saying is that you don’t know what a developer is? Game PUBLISHERS overhype, overprice, overpromise, overestimate.
I think he does, too, and recommend this article I wrote a few years ago! https://kotaku.com/the-man-who-promised-too-much-1537352493
Back in the day at PAX (when developers also manned the booths as a matter of course) you’d get to play the game with a developer right there with you. You definitely get the sense that the devs aren’t overselling the game, though they are very proud of it (as they should be). Some games end up missing promises…
That’s the thing. You’re talking about marketing people. For every Peter Molyneux making ambitious promises to the press, there are 100 developers under him who not only have to deal with cleaning up the mess but also have to watch posters on Reddit and NeoGAF call them all liars.
A big problem in this regard, is how few gaming journalists (and I speak as a former magazine writer, current indie developer) know *anything* about how games are made.
They’re supposed to be the expert opinion, the voice of reason and knowledge. But I’ve known gaming journalists in pretty prominent positions who,…
Yes. But I’m also proud of how much we’ve evolved over the years.
I’ve long believed that the solution to this problem is to try to inform and educate more people about how games are made...
