That is not a late hit. The receiver was not down. There is a quick rule change the NFL can make to instantly take some contact out of games — NCAA style rules regarding receivers being down.

Collective bargaining in sports is weird and “equal work” is a strange concept when the marginal value of certain players to their sport is so much greater than replacement-level players. It’s not an assembly line occupation.
It seems like a very bad PR move in general because financially and economically USSF has a sound position, but they can lose in the court of public opinion.
Because it is not convenient to the narrative.
I am fully in support of the USWNT being compensated equal to the MNT, but they would be better served by people making more economically and logically sound arguments, on their behalf.
Another article written from the armchair GM/Owner perspective. Obviously owners would want to grow the popularity of the league, but the fans? Hockey fans don’t care if the NBA/NFL/etc. is more popular. In reality they probably prefer it that way, so long as they can watch and the season doesn’t get canceled again.
Is this supposed to be a conspiracy theory article or not? This reads like an anti-evolution argument (I’m just saying we should teach the controversy....) without saying it outright. Missed and bad calls happen - and since hockey is low scoring they seem even worse when they lead to a goal - but that does not mean…
There is probably a compelling argument for permitting transgender athletes to compete in the women’s division, but its not to be found in this article. It’s like breaking down season 8 Game of Thrones. The requisite mental gymnastics undermine an otherwise good intention.
In what world does Stanford have a hockey team? And to the original comment, this is certainly not common at any level of hockey.
Hockey is more than popular and established enough that it’s not going anywhere and I will be able to watch. Not making an argument for or against fighting here but I don’t know why the popularity of the sports is always brought up as the motivation here. It’s not like I’m going to be forced to watch soccer or…
You could make that comment about the Patriots overall, but Brady was just going along for the ride tonight.
This is exactly right. Big ice would have less scoring because maintaining possession is a lot easier (think of 3-on-3 OT) but still has more than enough players to pack it in defensively and make it difficult to get a good scoring opportunity. The transition through the neutral zone would be easier but it would be…
Drive 30 minutes outside of Boston in any direction.
Thumbs up to this. It’s really not at all a unique situation. Maybe for freelance internet authors it seems strange though.
It’s not the worst situation in the world for him, and not really that unique. There are probably exceptional 19 year olds at Stanford or Harvard that would be ready to get going at a top Law or Medical School right away but need to wait it out and get an undergraduate degree. Plenty of can’t miss prospects end up…
Not really a fraud, unless all but Clemson and Alabama are considered frauds. It’s a two team race, same NC 3 of the last 4 years.
Major difference is he’s not trying to time the hit on a player receiving the pass (whether its football or hockey). With regards to the impact on the brain, there is not much of a difference, but with regards to the hit being part of play it is different. This is just a complete cheap shot.
The fact that NCAA sports have bigger TV deals and more attention than minor league pro leagues has everything to do with the history and brand of the schools and nothing with the quality of the average athlete. As long as the schools remain competitive with one another and the games are compelling, the athletes are…
The Gudas and Provorov turnovers surely gave away the game, but the fans were pissed 100% by the egregious non-call on Letang for tripping Couturier. It is very conveniently missing from this recap considering all of the other goals have video links. Just not the back-breaking series-clinching goal... Do all guys…
It’s difficult to understand what injustice the white nationalists are looking to overcome, what actions they are seeking to protest. ISIS is easier to interpret. My best guess, though, is that articles like this one are the closest thing these terrorists have to a rallying call that isn’t pure fantasy.
