Ocarina of Time has to be on the list. Anyone who wasnt gaming and in on the gaming zeitgeist in 98 just does not understand how much of a game changer it was. You could argue its not a sequel, just another game in the series. In that case I can understand.

I have to concur - call a spade a fucking spade, Kotaku. I’m all here for supporting just causes to alleviate Palestinian civilians’ horrible situation - but never, ever qualify those who committed a callous massacre and publicized their own atrocities for major shock and horror value as a simple “political and

Just a couple things- “Hamas, an Islamic political and military organization governing the Gaza strip”- this whole thing should be replaced with terrorist organization. In this sentence- “..attacked Israel on October 7, killing nearly 1,500 people” I’d expand and write “..attacked Israel on October 7, decapitating,

That’s like saying Miles shouldn’t be able to wear a dashiki because he’s not from Africa. As for the mixed race and not Wakandan argument, society sees mixed race Black folks as Black. Afro-Cubans? Black. Afro-Puerto Ricans? Black. My son will be seen as Black first and foremost, even though my wife is Mexican.

So you can donate to both, right? Because Palestinians are just as much people as Hamas’ victims. Right? That’s why you’re asking?

Imagine being so fucking thin skinned that optional pronouns bother you enough to download a fucking mod. These are the same chodes that will, unironically, call everyone else snowflakes for shit. Fuck these children, and good on Nexus for not hosting such a childish, dumb fucking mod.

Imagine being such an asshole that you need to a mod to remove a choice for you and only you that you weren’t going to make anyway just to make yourself feel better.

A sound and reasonable criticism that will not doubt be immediately turned into a gross looking Youtube jpg that says “Kotaku HATES FF16, Wants All Japanese Devs to Apologize for Slavery” or some such nonsense.

This was an incredibly well-reasoned criticism of the game, and expresses issues I had with the experience as well. Rest in peace as they will now be coming for you.

I think that’s a disingenuous take. It absolves the development team for introducing deep ideas they couldn’t —- or wouldn’t —- deal with in any significant manner. The game explicitly sets up a world where slavery exists in mass form; the game is responsible for then navigating that appropriately.

Oh please, stop acting like this is a scandal. Let’s be honest here for a minute, the people this API change is affecting are a very loud, yet VERY small minority of Reddit users, much like MAGA idiots IRL. Reddit(and CEO boy, who has def put his foot in his mouth a few times over this) doesn’t care, because those

I liked 2077 the whole time, but let’s not re-write history, mate, 2077 was widely panned, and a lot of people (including some journos) expected that CDPR wouldn’t be able to get people to have any kind of positive opinion of it, because the launch was so bad, and the issues so significant.

It was pretty much universally panned at launch for being a buggy, unfinished mess. It got pulled from the Playstation Store days after launching and remained unavailable until they could figure out how to make it stop crashing people’s consoles and every major digital storefront (Steam, Sony, Xbox) had to start

You should probably add that the FDIC has said that the cost of this bailout will be paid for the banking sector as a whole through a special assessment (i.e. higher FDIC insurance costs), not by the taxpayers. That makes it different from the 2008 bailouts.

Hard disagree. The script was great.

You mean shit he did in the distant past? Yeah ok. Pity for your argument the things he did after, ya know basically the entire plot of TLOU, DID make him a hero at least to Ellie.

Which while simple on paper, is pretty damn brilliant of a move. Sure you can empathize with Joel. He has very real emotions and motivations, but Joel is also a mass murderer. That’s what some people can’t seem to wrap to wrap their heads around. Joel is both the protagonist and the villain of the first game.

Joel wasn’t a hero. That’s what people couldn’t seem to grasp and when he was killed, they lost their minds.

Absolutely! When Part 2 was announced, there was a lot of discourse around whether or not the original game needed a sequel. Now I can’t imagine the story having ended with the first game.

The discourse around 2, made me see how many people misinterpreted the entire story/ending and how they couldn’t separate the character of Joel from that of a stereotypical game protagonist.
