“All I know is I’ve got more money in my pocket now than before”
They’re still in prototype testing on the Bronco. It launches this summer, so sadly no Palpatine level of stock... yet. On a side note, the test cars are causing such a stir at the prototype plants that they have had to lock the covers on the uncamo’d cars overnight, so nobody leaks them. I’ve never seen that before.…
Just turn the cars around and let em go down the line backwards, duh.
I’m sure there were a bunch of Project Managers- with no real world training- guaranteeing that it could be done with minimal problems. Its all pretty simple in Excel charts and graphs. The poop only hits the fan once you try to do it in the real world.
I traded my built 2-door JL with a $15k loan balance for a paid-for Lexus CT200H in anticipation of ordering my 2-Door Bronco. I’m all-in and I know I’m not the only one.
A lot of people praising Trump for the strong economy stock market don’t even have stocks.
Ford was my client once. I promise you they’re not nearly that cool. Only pharma and finance companies party like that
I understand that we all make mistakes, but trying to rush the launch of a product as important as the Explorer was incredibly stupid. People should get fired for it. The costs of building faulty vehicles in Chicago and then shipping them to Detroit for repairs probably made all of those Explorers a major net loss for…
A strong stock market is not the same as a strong economy.
I have a 2020 Explorer as a rental this week and after having been involved in its launch I am quite happy to say it’s excellent. Considering it’s size it’s actually quite “throwable” and can take a bit of aggressive driving better than some other similar suvs and is a pretty nice place to be for my ~1h each way…
Did you buy a new, manual-car last year? Congratulations. You’re part of the one percent.
You guys! I did my small part to save the manuals and bought a 2019 GTI with one last week! I feel so proud. And it’s so much fun! The sad thing is is that it’ll probably be the last one I ever own, unless I’m able to have a third fun car one day. Gonna enjoy it for many years though!
Well said. And the country of origin is very likely not giving us anywhere near the full picture.
If this finally triggers a recession in the US, expect lots of bizarre tweets.
If it weren’t for Money, I’d have a stable full of new cars. I’d also have a stable full of Money.
Neutral: Did you personally decide against upgrading to a new car? What stopped you from buying?
Okay, I’m gonna put my ignorance on display here: how was the 2018 refresh controversial?
Lukewarm take: Convertibles are better at night than during the day — Sweating into one’s leather seats, being on perpetual display, and skin cancer (an actual epidemic) kinda suck. But a warm/coolish night? So fun.
“That said, there’s plenty of precedent in the auto industry of big companies buying models to rebadge when they want to enter a market quickly. The first one that comes to my mind is Honda’s Passport and Acura SLX”.
