This is a legitimately fun fact
Not bad at all. It clearly wasn’t built to please the Jalopnik comment section, but I suspect most of the skeptical jalops will grow to appreciate it once they see them in person and get a chance to drive one.
Looks absolutely fantastic. Looks way better than anything Tesla builds right now. Not too big, has a hatchback, is technically a Mustang. I wish I had the money to buy one because it would be a perfect addition to my garage. Alas, I will have to admire from afar until they are on the used market for a price I can…
This is why I wish they could have called it a “Shooting Brake” just to the car enthusiasts, and then an “SUV” to the general buying public. That way it’s a cool wagon to jalops but still sells like crazy to the general upper middle class consumer base. Best of both worlds!
Mini seems to have applied this logic successfully. Most Minis sold these days are actually SUVs and CUVs, so there is clearly a large market of people who think “I love the Mini brand with its quirky design ques, fun colors and British heritage. I’d love to buy one but I can only justify buying one if it’s big…
It’s funny how the most reasonable, level-headed, logical comment can legitimately be considered a “Hot Take” on this website. Well done.
There is a very small, yet very loud, minority of people who are going to be upset about this (see: this comment section), while the rest of the world is like “Cool! Something new and exciting from a 55 year old icon!” Plus, everyone complaining about the name is still talking about it. Which, in the long run, is good…
This is what I don’t get! BMW seemed to have a clear EV Strategy starting with the i8 and the i3. They were ahead of the curve! It seemed like they were poised to keep coming out with new EVs every couple of years but then after the i3 they just stopped. Weird.
There are Chyrsler/Jeep/Dodge/Ram stores, but Ram is never a stand alone from Dodge. Ram seems more like a sub-brand like F-series or Silverado.
I think it looks pretty good. Almost like a four-door mustang fastback with a bit of a lift. If you’re going to make a Mustang SUV, I’m not sure how you’d do much better. Waiting to see the real thing for final judgment though.
we are at least 25 years away from commonplace fully autonomous cars UNLESS it becomes mandated by the government before then. Not because of the technology itself, but because of cost. Think about how many new cars don’t even have adaptive cruise control yet, even though it could be put on pretty much any car these…
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
C) Where’s the V8?
It’s a real physical knob. They say it right there: “A tactile volume knob sits at the center of the HVAC controls”
This is always the problem with advances in technology. Overall, average quality of life increases and unemployment stabilizes, but if you look more closely, there are lots of people losing jobs while other people are picking up the newly created jobs. The buggy-whip specialist who spent 25 years perfecting his/her…
If anything the UAW contract ratification will give the Michigan economy a bit of a boost for the next 12 months or so, as people get a relatively large influx of cash in their bank accounts. After spending almost 2 months cutting back on expenses, it’s not hard to imagine a mini windfall to businesses around the…
The Cayenne didn’t water down the 911, the Urus didn’t water down the Aventador, the Bentayga didn’t water down the Continental GT, the Cullinan dudn’t water down the Phantom and the Ecoboost V6 didn’t water down the Ford GT.
Repeal the Trump tax cut. Now you have more than enough money to cover this and invest in charging infrastructure and public transportation. You could probably even fix a lot of roads.
*Whispers* that’s not how taxes and government spending works
Also: call it a regressive tax cut instead of a rebate and republicans will be on board.
