He’s been under a lot of stress lately, with the SpaceX thing if nothing else. Not surprising that he’s looking like Peter Jackson at the end of production on LotR.

OK, we’ve added a pedal to your DSG whose sole purpose is to disconnect the engine from the wheels. Happy now? And if so, why?

None of us can get everything out of a Corvette on a public road, not even the base model. Except maybe one guy, and that guy isn’t spending his time rolling his eyes on the internet.

One problem is that not everything that’s “unique” is worthwhile. Another problem is that even a giant automaker’s resources are finite. The funding used to develop and market this thing could have earned the company more profit, more market share, more prestige, or all of the above. It could have been put into the

What it is is the world’s first SU-vertible, a part-SUV, part-convertible that’s supposed to be just as comfortable driving to the beach as it is tackling rough roads.

This is not the sort of vehicle that you want to buy with every factory option box checked. The base 2-door model is very reasonably priced at about half of the $45K MSRP on this one.

To be clear, I’m not “pardoning” anybody. I’m just pointing out that Porsche has unquestionably gotten better in their current generation, while early indications are that Corvette may have gotten worse. Especially the non-Z06 cars, which as you suggest were really pretty bulletproof in the C6 generation.
