(Shrug) I’d have no problem paying more to be allowed to hang around and observe/help. I know it would be a pain in the ass for the mechanic, and I wouldn’t expect a free education.

To be fair, that guy was doing a lot more than just “speeding.” Passing in the breakdown lane at 100 MPH is a different kind of driving altogether.

+1, this is classic Steve Jobs.

Ask your doctor if NippleX is right for you!

The centering springs are much stronger than you probably think they are, if you haven’t driven a manual before. You quickly learn how much force to apply to get into each gear.

Um, at the time, you couldn’t even DRIVE a 959 if you had one. It is almost entirely irrelevant, at least as far as the US market is concerned. A museum curio.

Reminds me of that time I took a long lunch hour and went over to the Boeing plant.

I had no trouble getting test drives in brand-new 911s when I pulled up to the local Porsche dealer in my ten-year-old Miata. Try them, I’ll bet you can get a nice 987.2 Cayman or Boxster in the target price range that you had in mind for the VW.

What part of the country is this?

Never really understood this argument. Back pressure isn’t a synonym for “free energy.”
