I want to talk in this guy's defense as an amateur youtube critic myself. I don't like any of his videos. But damned if I'm not impressed with what he's managed to accomplish with them. I work in food service, as a pizza cook, and I'm working my way up through college— I have no credentials whatsoever to participate

I don't think you should have to be credentialed to do game criticism. I'm a pizza cook, but I do in-depth amateur game reviews myself, and frankly, I love the freedom of it to talk about the things I felt were important and unique. It's great, from a content producer perspective, simply because we do it for free and

There's also the phenomenon of long-form game criticism. Amateur game critics are putting out long, detailed looks into games— more detailed than a major gaming news outlet would have time or inclination to produce. Angry Joe is vaguely in that category, but the Errant Signal guy, Campster, is a much better example.
