I hate Polanski as much as everybody here, but don’t appreciate the misleading clickbait of the headline (I thought he made a film about a man who’s accused of rape) or the minimizing of one of the biggest antisemitic scandals in French history which had big political consequences (the Dreyfus Affair).

My Japanese friends took me to a tempura restaurant in Tokyo and I don’t recall anyone discarding the tail. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen anyone discard tails in ebi furai either.

The tail and shell are edible. I’ve smoked shrimp and eaten it shell-on. Same for shrimp on a ripping hot wok. Some preparations render the entire shell pleasantly edible and downright delicious.

I do this and I am not the only person I know who does this. And I’m white and grew up in Utah.
