Women have been doing, or had imposed on them voices like that for a long time. It can be heard in very old movies, for example, as something supposedly cute or sexy. But otherwise I agree. It’s also an annoying trend.

This is the best piece of writing I’ve seen on Jezebel in a long time. Measured, full of feeling but absent of childish insults; if only some of the other jez political coverage was as classy.

I’m happy Cosby was found guilty, but American prisons are hellscapes that nobody deserves. And court costs? Yes, this particular rapist can afford that easily, but that’s just another bullshit cost that a) passes the costs of tax cuts on to the less fortunate, b) lets politicians show they are “tough on crime”, and…

Cosby is a shitty person and I am happy that he will be doing time for his crimes.

There’s no way they’re letting Cosby into gen-pop without a phalanx of armed guards. Letting random black and brown people get killed under your watch is one thing but the warden knows if Cosby gets shivved he can kiss his high paid consultancy gig for a Prison Corporation goodbye.

I couldn’t agree more, both from a humanitarian and from a utilitarian perspective.  The state of our prisons are a national shame.  At the same time, the more creature comforts you provide a prisoner the more things you can take away in order to encourage compliance.
