I don't believe the "Twister" one at all. Being from Oklahoma, (like Garth), it was bordering on "idolizing" a tornado. There are far too many Oklahomans hurt and killed by tornadoes. It was probably more of a "consideration to his fellow Oklahomans" than an ego trip to Garth.
