It’s terrible advice. If they’re untrue then keeping them in the limelight would eventually lead to people like me feeling sympathy for him when they’re proved to be untrue in a court of law.

In order for it to be a pattern of behaviour, there would have to be matching behaviour to go with it. So far, there isn’t any - especially since the case that *could* be tied to it has now been dismissed with prejudice.

No, it’s called critical thinking - just because someone posted alleged transcripts, doesn’t make them true. You’re trusting the same populace that sends SWAT teams to streamers to be honest - let me know when charges drop with reasonable credibility.
I haven’t seen any texts, confirmed or otherwise, claiming that. And confirmed how - because if only one recipient is admitting to it, then it’s not necessarily confirmed.
*accused*, unless and until proven by a court and/or a jury of his peers.
I don’t. Given the circumstances stated in the article, I probably would have spent a bunch of time on the phone as well, rather than a different solution. Both the app and support told him he had these miles available. Support just couldn’t figure out why they were not being accessed.
You’re missing a very important factor here: You can only spend the Tesla credits on ONE place. Tesla’s own charging stations. This is closer to you having directly withdrawn the funds in December from a bank branch and then having that transaction not show up until April. Seth couldn’t go spend those credits at…
The assumption is that tesla owners are not smart enough to do the math to get from kwh to miles. You know you’ve met someone who said “my car is really efficient, I get 300 miles per tank” or “I only have to fill up once every two weeks.” And they think that those statements tell you something about the efficiency of…
What if Seth had all of his cards stolen? Should he not be able to drive his Telsa? Interesting take. Most people keep some cash around. And/or pay with a phone.
Apparently no one on jalopnik except me only has one card.
Wait, so, the guy’s credit card gets deactivated because of a fraud detection issue the day before his trip (stated in the article), he takes multiple forms of payment with him (also stated in the article), and got stranded because of erroneous information in Tesla’s app and due to a quirk in Tesla’s billing system…
You’re absolutely right. He should put off rescuing his daughter until his card came in the mail, in 5-7 business days.
The dirty little secret, which you get just a tiny glimpse of here, is that the “sophisticated back end services” to support all these systems??? Is a complete house of cards. Nobody really understands the whole system architecture for the phone app, for how cars get provisioned and for how features are supported.
Half-Life 3 opens with the episodes being a dream in Gordon Freeman’s mind. From there it devolves into a series of micro-transactions that are used to progress through the entire game. Oh, did I forget to mention its mobile-only, too?
Damn it, everywhere I go the Feline Weight Truthers are right there, shaming me for my cat-assessing skills! I’m taking my business to cat-bounce.com.
I think I saw the last existing Intrepid in Kansas this year! It was on the side of the road engulfed in flames.
