And the icing on the cake is that it’s cobblestone. Good luck when it’s wet!

While removing the ICE would trim a lot of weight, like you noted, batteries would add that back. But a cooling system, alternate source of heat, e-AC, etc. would all need to be added back in, as well.
Agreed. “If you’re not a blithering idiot, this one fact should surprise no one! Click to find out more!”
Uhh, got any clean Cherokee XJ shells out there? Not-burned would be preferred, but a clean Cali shell would go real nice under my offroader.
The crazy part of this headline is that a “writer”, who can work from anywhere, thought this was a reasonable headline. Unless they’re just trying to drive a divide between classes OR they’re so spineless that they’ll sell their own dignity and credibility as a “writer” just to provoke comments like ours.
When you’re looking to sell something as a retrofit, using as much of the original vehicle as possible is ideal. Unsprung weight is FAR harder to control and has a much larger impact on dynamics than sprung weight. Making the batteries and motor sprung would be superior in that regard. Its much easier to increase…
I’ll take “Unsprung Weight” for £1000, Alex.
I think if the design team would’ve taken this, removed some of the soft-ness and flair from the R’s, it would’ve been a good fit. The look harkens back to Jeep’s roots and the older (Grand) Wagoneeer name while still being unique and clean, especially if they’d trim down the serif width just a hair.
While I see how that could be a nice escape, I’ve also walked into the store, found no carts, and had to go fetch one from the parking lot, whether it be in a corral or not. That’s just not a good look for business and makes you wonder what else the store might be neglecting.
Gotta have the plaid interior!
Give me the Elmiraj, please. Lose that notchy, budget DTS-looking back part of the greenhouse and give me a sleek, B-pillar-less coupe.
Sold vs. delivered to the customer, maybe?
Next to the cart return is the safest place to park in MI. It seems like there’s 2 types of people here.
Sounds like how people still use the Scion XB today. My parents had an appliance repair guy who ran around in one with only a driver’s seat still installed. He could stuff any type of washer/dryer/dishwasher/etc. into it and also squeeze through tight city streets without issues.
Can I get a pass if my G Wagen tastes are either V12 or mil-surp? The (4x4)^2 gets a pass “because portals”.
How do we feel about 5 lugs on 10 spokes?
Late to the party here, but it can be done pretty easily. I’ve build Formula SAE car frames from a mix of .028, .035, .049, .065, and .095 tubing. The .028 can be fiddly, especially when welding it to .095, and likes to blow out when you go to fully weld it and seal it up. The air inside heats up and likes to blow out…

Easily agreed. A clean shell in the north adds value. And converting to 4WD is less than $500 in junkyard parts. The only concerning part to me would be the ‘00-01 head casting coupled with a new radiator. If it over-heated, it likely cracked, so the radiator might just be a product of an over-heat and looming issues.
Buuuuttt accccctuallllyyyy, it’s 3 wires.
