The best one because the visuals were merely a reflection of the character’s inner feelings/turmoil (esp Luke). Prequels ones were excessive trash and the new ones have gimped lightsabers and are slightly less flashy than the prequels but just as hollow.

The word epic has lost all meaning

The annoying thing is, I could almost appreciate the more ‘grounded’ direction that Abrams was going with in the first movie, but that poorly choreographed mess in the second one?

I think the original series lightsaber fights were quite epic. Epic doesn’t mean faster, or shot with more soaring crane shots. It means heroic and legendary. The original series actors hefted their lightsabers like broadswords, which, in context, ends up being far more epic than:

The reason they were epic had nothing to do with the swordplay

those fights may not be epic by today’s standards, but they certainly were at that period in time.

Classic Trilogy Lightsaber battles > Prequel trilogy Lightsaber battles >>>> New Trilogy Lightsaber Battles.

This was changed in the prequels.

Of course, we can’t go by what GL said and what Disney are doing, since according to GL Vader was basically a broken shell of a man and really not any sort of threat to a trained force wielder, and Obi-Wan was just an old man past his prime fighting him to a standstill.

Disney turned

“Luke and Vader did not have an epic fight in Empire

The word epic has lost all meaning anyway; people now use it to describe mundane things they like or did.

Their fight in Jedi absolutely was epic.

Vader often swings his saber one-handed. Obi-wan and Luke are usually two-handed. This was always, to me, a good choreography indicating Vader’s sheer strength, which works if it’s like a broadsword. If it’s like a light sword, this is Vader styling.

“It was more like broadsword fighting, which isn’t technically what it’s supposed to be, because lightsabers are supposed to be light by nature,”...

The involvement of the Reitman’s is a good sign. Feig and Pascal froze out Reitman for GB16 and look how that turned out...

Haven't you heard? Hate is all the rage nowadays.

This was funny (hence my star) but here’s hoping that the film is given a fair shake.  I don’t understand the animosity.

Wars have started for less, Mister Ambassador!

You’ve lost another submarine?

This news comes just over a week after another Russian sub experienced a similar calamity.
