    The purpose is to prevent wrongful convictions. Alibis, for example, are pretty hard to show 20 years later.

    Statutes of limitations are good and an important tool in preventing wrongful conviction.

    If this guy is who I think he is, he’s probably got a lawyer if needed. There’s probably nothing illegal here, just really shotty customer service.
