I hate that so many people especially "counselors" in high school pressure youths to go to college and yet many of those youths don't even know what to learn about. It's a waste of time and money to go for the sake of going. As for me, a top 10% hardly, but I did listen in class and had no problems passing tests.

degree/no degree

As someone who did very well in school, aced every standardized test and pretty much would have been seen as "throwing away his life" by not going to college, I'm happy for you. I don't know your situation, maybe you were a top-10 student in your HS class and got a 36 on your ACT. In that case, I applaud you for

It shows FB is responding to complaints about how they invisibly censure "uninteresting" posts. FB has a financial model built around charging content providers (who are also their audience) if they want ALL their friends to see their posts. FB's financial model is as unsound as Obama's "income equality" ideas. Just

I wouldn't go that far. I think the bigger problem is how "education" is defined and how people go about getting it. A sharp mind is your best money making asset.

I disagree with your statement but agree with your inference about higher education in general. I don't have a degree. I'm working the same tech support job and making the same amount as others and all my co-workers have degrees. I educated myself, because to do a job right you have to have knowledge about what you're

Let's create an app that shows interesting articles that you care about, but merges them with posts of your "friends" that you don't care about!

SSSSHHHHH. ;)

"The goal of the app, according to Facebook, is to surface articles, news, and status updates..."

So where's the wallpaper from the title?

I don't know how it is today but a little college (1 semester short of a BA for various reasons) enabled me to choose my job in the army so I got a relatively easy one. However, once out I couldn't get hired because the previous generation assumed a BA guaranteed I'd immediately be given some exalted position and

Lots of comments about whether it is worth it to drive to or wait a day for cheaper gas. It is not really all about the math. We can affect all local prices by rewarding the lower price with our business. So, it's not just about the cost of this tank I need now, but how can I help keep it low.

I have a doctorate. I work in a call center. Degrees equal shit. The people in my field that are averagely employed are working for their family's business, so they had a built in job.

I'm insanely cheap. But I've given up on trying to save on gas. the main reason is that i have a ten gallon tank. It more important for me to get gas at a place that is on my way to work than chase a deal early in the morning. Efficiency is just as important as being frugal.

Actually it's about what you believe your time is worth...

I lived in Los Angeles and gas prices differed wildly (anything from a few cents to $1.50 PER GALLON). Fast forward a few months, I'm in Little Rock, Arkansas. People here complain because of a $0.03 difference between the stations.

Even if it was a $.10 difference and you have a 15 gallon tank that was empty than that's only $1.50 in savings. You get as once a week than that's only a savings of $78. This does not sound like it's worth even bothering with.

Some of these really do look like city blueprints, the futuristic kind. Neat stuff!

I know. I LOVE how employers wait til the absolute last minute and send them 1/31.
