I live in NYC too, and I’m doing it with less, far less, than you. Most of the people in this city are. I struggle to afford the basic things I need, so you’ll pardon if I can’t muster up much concern for someone who can’t afford the things she wants.

I figure when you take into account the average wedding costs, the massive upheaval of life to make it ‘official’ when you could just BE together, and the probability that you’ll lose money in a divorce, the tax incentives don’t really make sense. If it’s for citizenship or similar I definitely get it, but otherwise,

You really expect violins to play for a combined household income above $180k? I’d be ecstatic just to have someone to with whom to split utilities.

But, what about the guy on the subway? “I have no legs. *shakes can*” That and the girl being raped on the couch are my most vivid memories of that movie.

It seems weird to want marriage for its own sake. If you're in a relationship that makes you contemplate it that's one thing, but wanting it before you even have someone sitting across the table? Cart before horse.

A happiness survey in Australia has just shown married men and unmarried women are happier. I’ve basically left every LTR in utter frustration about how I’m expected to essentially mother a grown - ass man, so I can vouch for those findings and will be happily single for the foreseeable future.

Oh yes this. My family is of the opinion that I am hopelessly defective because I’m not married and past my sell by. They like to passive aggressively punish me for this by making me stand with the kids in pictures since I don’t have a husband although I’m older than a fair number of the marries cousins. Also, they

The goal should then be to broaden access to those benefits. Marriage shouldn’t be the only easy pathway to citizenship, health care, and tax breaks.

Yea that’s how I feel about it (except there are some legal advantages of course). I totally get that it’s important to people for other reasons but when I tell people how I feel they don’t get it.

Maybe we as a society should stop upholding marriage as the absolute thing you must do or you are worthless slime.

Agreed! It also seems a bit pointless to me. If you love somebody, just be with them. Why do you want to bind yourself to them legally?

Maybe we as a society should stop upholding marriage as the absolute thing you must do or you are worthless slime. People would probably not marry out of desperation to be coupled with someone, ANYONE, if that were the case.

“...There might have been racism way back then with the slavery and everything else but that’s all in the history.”

Yes! I can’t recall the exact date but I LOVED the recap of the trip to Italy the gang took.

She is certainly one in a million and hilarious to watch. She reminds me of a well-intentioned out of touch aunt with a penchant for princessy-ness, so I can’t hate her.

She actually has me hysterically laughing because I am completely baffled by her regression back to childhood.
I think she might actually be the best playa in the game.
She dodges and deflects all responsibility and then does these epic seemingly “sincere” apologies when cornered. She wore Yummie Tummie jeans to

Ramona is like a small child who doesn’t want to cop to anything. It is a fucking bizarro trait for a grown woman. Maybe it’s some sort of self preservation thing but it registers as creepy waspy phoniness.

I need to make sure I'm rich and single at 50 because it all looked like too much fun to me.

I just posted this over on defamer, but Dorinda’s hot pink blazer/voice immediately made me think of Marge.

Disagree. I would be mightily pissed if I was sleeping naked, sleepily went to the bathroom and heard something in a room that should be empty, walked in to see and saw a naked guy sleeping. Nope, I would be freaked out. Yes, it’s a reality show so there were crew around, but in terms of safety, people do get hurt on
