The title of this article might mention the fact that this is Mac exclusive.

Agreed, the gaming mode is an indication that the AV is to invasive to begin with. Bitdefender also has annoying daily popups.

One major gripe I have with Google Maps is that search results are not sorted by distance to you. This seems like a super-easy thing to fix. Waze seems to do a better job of this. Does anyone else find it strange that Google would leave Maps like that?

    Live

“ I recommend using the host file but needs some knowledge to use” Could you clarify what you mean by this?

If you enable Silent/Gaming mode in Avast you can eliminate a lot of the annoyances.

What are some of the other Lifehacker favorite read later apps that you are referencing?

I miss toread.cc, a service that generated a unique bookmarklet for your email address – you clicked the bookmarklet and a full copy of the page landed almost immediately in your inbox, not exactly like the original but close because it was a cached copy of the webpage, not just the url. I’ve tried Pocket and

Overall, I gained a better appreciation for the ISO setting, but wish they would have shown more examples of different settings used and how that will affect the lighting in the photo.

This is an interesting meta-analysis. However, there is a far easier way to protect yourself against liver cirrhosis. Don’t drink alcohol in high volume for an extended period of time. Recent evidence has even found links to increased stroke risk and heavy alcohol consumption, which is defined as people averaging

“That means that if your baby has a true fever (100.5 or more), or other symptoms of illness like diarrhea or a runny nose, consider calling the doctor.”

I think it is important to point out that as the article you lined to from healthychildren.org states, that in a child above the age of 3 months (12 weeks) a fever

Thx. I’m on iOS 7.1.2 Settings>Cellular> and there is a cellular data toggle but no wifi assist that I can see. It looks like that’s a new feature in iOS 9. My issue seems to be that the iPhone 5 wants to use the cellular data by default, rather than the wifi by default. This isn’t unique to me btw. I have a friend

Great post. A few points to add to the SIDS discussion. Many parents believe that SIDS is related to their child not being able to “breathe” hence why no blankets or pillows etc... However, the most current research on SIDS indicates that it is not the baby’s lack of ability to breathe in oxygen but that SIDS is

I seem to consistently have a problem with my iPhone 5 using data, while I am also on wifi. I have to turn off cellular data while at home to force the phone to use wifi. Anyone else have this issue and if so have a solution?

    Absolutely!

    Thanks for sharing that info.

Good point, I had not thought of that. You would have duplicates to deal with and storage size could be a potential issue depending on the capacity of the SD Card or CF Flash.

Thanks for teaching us something about PNG. I was not aware that it was still lossless. I’m curious, do you know how the smaller file size is achieved without compromising on quality?

As an amateur photographer who exclusively shoots in RAW I would say there is a caveat to this. When you shoot in JPG the camera makes some decisions for you, meaning that the unedited file that you import to your hard drive is going to look more finished than a RAW file, especially if you are shooting in auto-mode.

I performed a quick search for “migraine prophylaxis” and was given some very relevant peer-reviewed literature. I believe this site is promising, but as others have said, it still needs work. They have a feedback button which is prominent so hopefully that will prove fruitful.
