Yeah, don't expect that same level of immediacy. I'd still say you want to test drive one, but be prepared to feel like your Mazda is a racecar afterwards.

Test drove a base with the 6 speed and I was reasonably pleased (and I'm not even a hipster). I loved the styling and it handled as nimbly as you'd expect a small city car to.

This confirms my hypothesis that much of Florida is not part of the "south." Sure, northern Florida seems to fit the bill, but south and central Florida sound a little more like your assessment of the Northeast... but with more crazies.
