I used to do this... it didn't end well. Pro tip, no matter how good the velcro is, your hard drive will only last 'til the adhesive between the velcro and the desk peels off. Next time I'd go for non-adhesive velcro and glue it on.

That's most likely due to the flooding in Thailand which created a shortage of hard drives. Best price to buy them is whenever the price drops back enough for you I guess.
