@xd.Balls: In response to "are sim cards in the EU expensive"? No- the cards themselves are sometimes available free and they are a lot cheaper than roaming, unless things have changed drastically since I last used roaming.

@xd.Balls: You could do that before now- I have a T-mobile prepaid sim for the US and an 02 prepaid sim for the UK that both work fine in my iPhone.
