I can understand why the writers didn't use Quantum in the film. Quantum of Solace wasn't met with much fanfare and given that MGM - and Sony too as I understand it - has/have been plagued with financial problems, the powers that be probably felt it would be too risky. Hence my previous characterization in earlier

True, but that was after the Overture. Which is admittedly cut out of most new releases of the film.

More like a couple thousand I'd presume? I mean, he's in the Norse myths, so he's got be pushing at least 1400 by now.

Yeah, I mean, I love ST09, but I'd daresay the opening is about half again as good at least as most of the rest of the movie.

"the first nine minutes of the movie consists of a slow moving starfield and the occaisional lensflare...."

Having watched the two again recently QoS does, in fairness, still have some problems.

Although the song wasn't the best and the movie certainly wasn't, I give that one kind of a pass because, as orangewaxlion points out, it was supposed to be literally happening (or at least a lot of it was).

It was very pretty, but yes, the imagery was a bit anvilicious. Overall, I liked it, but like you said, they could have toned it down a bit.

It was there before. It's apparently been edited out in the hour between when I posted and you did, so my comment is now obsolete.

"Don't get me wrong, we love MK12's QOS intro, but overall the movie was a turd, and Kleinman's snub was silly if not stupid."

"Sean Connery's being turned 'Japanese', anyone?"

Yeah, I'll grant that. I've said it before and I'll see it again: I think they shouldn't have had so many damn monsters running about. I would have liked it a lot better, for example, if they'd just used Holloway as the villain, having him transform gradually into a hybridized monster as a result of his exposure to

Yes, it's true that it would be more accurate to say that we have blue cities and a red countryside. But one can always make the argument that the overall balance of densely populated urban areas and sparsely populated rural areas determines the character and culture of a state.

"The Space Jockey in Alien is very clearly a corpse, and decidedly NOT a dude in a space suit, as we're shown in Prometheus."

And you're welcome to your opinion. I'd say it's far above AVP which is a flat out bad film vs. Prometheus which is simply flawed in several crucial ways. But hey, we all get to think what we want to right?

I think both scripts have their strengths and their weaknesses. Ultimately, I think I liked the direction that Lindelof's script took better: it's a prequel that isn't trying desperately hard to fill in the blanks from the previous films, which is, IMO the best kind of prequel. Prometheus is its own story and I

Yep, I thought of that too. One of those pictures looked a lot like a Vagyr battlecruiser to me.

Again, I think we should adopt a runoff system, where if no candidate wins a majority of the popular vote initially you hold a second election between the top two candidates. I think this would A) promote the idea of broad rather than deep support for the presidency and B) make third party candidates less of a "wasted

Given the way that the film ended it very much does seem like Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall together compose a "James Bond's origin story" trilogy. It's a bit complicated since CR and QoS are practically two parts to the same story while Skyfall's more of a stand-alone, but thematically they all seem
