Hipsters = people who like things you don't like?

Eh? How's Adventure Time an example of Cartoon Network's "network decay?" It's not a live-action reality TV show like some of their programs. It's a cartoon. Isn't that what they're supposed to do?

Most real-life villains aren't completely 100% evil and they almost all have a back story that explains why they ultimately became cruel or spiteful.

I like cyberpunk. I like RPGs. And I like The Witcher. So this is almost certainly a buy for me.

Well, I do have a cat, so it could be that. But I honestly don't do many web searches related to it.

I wasn't expressing contempt for io9's audience, so I'm not exactly sure what you mean.

That's my guess as well, although it's always possible that they (like humans) were unaware of the physiological differences at first.

I'm not certain if that's quite what he's saying. I think what he's saying more is that the kind of video game scripts that have gone through have emphasized replicating the action in video games, rather than building an interesting character arc.

Its critical reception was actually quite good (a 77% on RT is nothing to scoff at); it was the commercial reception that was poor (unfortunately).

Eh? What's Fallout 3 doing there? Don't get me wrong, I like the game, but other than taking on a 50s retro-future vibe it has nothing to do with history. Seems out of place frankly.

Okay, I just have to say I chuckled a bit when the ad that played before the video was about cat food. I don't know if there's a connection or not, but it struck me as amusing.

Huh. If that's the case than that's a serious error on Ms. Woerner's part, particularly since she put the pitch in quotation mark, indicating it was something someone actually said in the original pitch or press release.

I'm getting tired of that pitch.

God damn it.

So presumably he was either the Man from Earth or the one guy he met.

Fair enough, although it depends how you define "earth-like." When planetologists talk about "earth-like" planets they don't generally mean they have life on them; they just mean they're rocky.

Yeah, I guess I get that: the Codex does say Mars colonization slowed to a crawl after the discovery of the relays.

I missed that one. Sounds pretty cool.

As corpore-metal says, if humanity actually gets out of the Sol system and out into the reaches of space, that will hold up for awhile... but hardly forever, even if we just stick to rocky planets (which seems unlikely).

I figured you were and sorry if I implied you weren't. I was just sort of offering my own thoughts on the matter.
