Oops, looks like you're correct. I read that somewhere, but obviously it wasn't official, so I guess not.

"You can talk your way out of every bad situation sans one or two."

The funny thing is I don't actually remember experiencing any bugs with AP (aside from one time where the quest marker was in the wrong place). I'm not saying it didn't happen for other folks, but I must just have been exceptionally lucky.

It's an investment, because even if you're not getting a monetary payout, you're getting something produced that you want to see come alive. Sometimes believing a product is more important (to the investor) than believing you'll see any returns.

I actually kind of agree, but it's alright if they don't allow the nostalgia to blind them. I think a modernized isometric RPG can work, so long as you're willing to use what worked about the old games as well as the new.

It's using the Onyx engine, which is supposedly pretty solid (and which Obsidian developed themselves). I never played Dungeon Siege III, which is the only released game that's used it, but reviewers claimed the game was practically bug-free.

Other than Neverwinter Nights 2 Obsidian's never done a fantasy RPG themselves and never an original IP, so this is actually something new for them.

The initial poster is more or less right. Specifically, inheritance issue was mostly relevant in Western Europe, which was dominated at the time by Frankish culture, which had very strict rules of in which a man was obliged to divide up all his land and wealth among all of his sons equally. The issue here wasn't that

I'd like to see another Jade Empire game as well, though the chance of this seems increasingly dim.

No offense taken.

Wait, you're not a fan of "blondes?" What the hell does that even mean?

Like a few others I do find it more than a little odd that both of the company's co-founders are leaving at once. They must either be really close (and therefore come as a package) or there is some kind of stress for the company up at the top levels. Generally I disregard theories about EA manipulating BioWare or

Actually Mike Laidlaw was one of two lead writers for Jade Empire and he's currently the design lead for the Dragon Age games. The other, Lukas Kristjanson, also worked on Dragon Age II and wrote the characters Aveline and Carter.

I can sympathize with you, though I myself come from the other side of the coin. I'm a veritable hypochondriac (probably a result of my family history of depression and anxiety as well as a near-fatal case of appendicitis in my youth) and I frequently struggle with health worries. Except for some passing infections

I don't begrudge it.

What if [s/he] was right?

Well, yeah. In fact, the idea of no electricity being so implausible is where the AltHistory fandom's term "alien space bats" comes from, originally used within the narrative of S.M. Stirling's Emberverse series as a joke explanation for the exact phenomenon Revolution is dealing with.

Actually, all of the books have been written by David Gaider, the lead writer. I haven't read any of them so I can't speak to their quality, though I've heard a multitude of opinions.

To be fair, Laidlaw has been with BioWare since Hordes of the Underdark. He was (one of) the lead designer of DA:O as well as a lead writer for Jade Empire, which is generally considered one of BioWare's good games.
