Holy crap, how did this thing not sell at $4k? Average retail on a ‘91 190E 2.6 is $5,400 according to NADA, and this one looks to be in very good condition. Add the 3.0 swap, the fact that it’s manual, RWD and brown...it’s Jalop bait!
Not in the US they didn’t. 90hp for the Rabbit GTI 82-84, and Jetta GLI in ‘84. First A2 Golf GTI had 105hp 8V until the 16V came out in ‘87 with 123hp, as did the respective A2 Jetta GLIs. Those cars had knock-sensor ignition and higher compression than the A1 1.8 8V.
