No one is unionizing crap tier e-sports leagues anywhere else (which is why Riot is so incredulous at the ask here).
Weiss rightfully comes in for a truckload of criticism from anyone to the left of a Blue Dog but I’m struggling to see where you can argue she’s carrying water for literal capital “N” Nazis.
Maybe, (in DotA the competitive regions are a lot broader but NA still sucks) but to cut through my initial coyness here a bit, do the other non-competitive regions feature players delusional belief that they’ve earned a “living wage” by putting out a consistently inferior product?
“If Pete had done his research, he would know that there’s no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, that at least a quarter of dogs in shelters are purebreds, and that Petfinder has listings for homeless dogs of every breed under the sun, including the one he purchased.”
A part of the problem is that it’s a structurally weak union. This guy can go make money independently streaming that most of the rest of the membership can’t. He can also hop over to an international league where the economics are better (because the talent is a lot higher and international interest in e-sports in…

California doesn’t want that for the same reasons they don’t want to approve higher rates. They’d rather be able to sue the private pocket of PG&E when something goes sideways than be on the hook for it themselves.
LOL, isn’t there some 8-10 greenspace covered in human shit and dirty needles in a downtown SF food desert that you should be chaining yourself to or something?
Buddy people absolutely do want LCS being cancelled if Riot don’t come to the table, that is exactly what the plan is.
It’s not quite as simple as climate denial. In California you also have granola munching fucknuggets who prevent sane land management policy.
Here Nike, in your centralized databases lets store my login credentials, my credit card, home address and real name to buy this thing but I want to manage the actual evidence of my ownership of a copy of this particular bit of digital swag that cost me a few bucks through a decentralized database.
Naw, I’m not doing anyone a disservice. Fact is I’m probably not being reductive enough.

With so many games fundamentally about taking over spaces or harvesting them for our own gain—something arguably reflected even in the wonderful new game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, where as Link, you can plunder Hyrule to your heart’s content—how do we make games that challenge such ideas?
I mean I think the question is whether a different system is more sustainable. One thing Valve could do without taking on too much risk is try to move the model of the biggest tournaments and Circuit titles to more of a revenue sharing model than that of a prize pool model. Or even more of a hybrid than exists now.…
Haha!
In re: how long will they last, I think that’s a fair question about specific games but there’s clearly a market for competitive global MOBAs and the fact is that a lot of that consumption is non-US based. LoL is 14 years old and DotA is 20, with the new version being a mostly faithful port that has continued the…
Katrina Pierson comes to mind. She’s the bullet necklace lady.
