Pixel count and resolution are the same. The resolution is 4 times higher, twice in each direction to keep the same aspect ratio. If you specified the HORIZONTAL or VERTICAL resolution specifically then your statement would be correct. :B

Depending on what you use the machine for, it can be a huge performance boost.

This sounds pretty cool, anyone know the resistance required for it?

I for one, can't believe what I'm seeing here. RIM making a departure from the Blackberry OS, finally!

I'd love to see this tech being used for PC gamers. I'm going away to college this year, I don't want to leave my powerhouse desktop for a laptop for 4 years. :(

Ouch! Anyone else noticed the apple and glasses in the corner?

Do you mean having a stretched image? If so, they could increase the screen size in most cases, but I guess when it comes to tablets the size must stay the same for compatibility issues.

This saddens me. Torture?! Forced TELEVISED confessions?!? I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Technically, the image quality will stay the same, you are just making it smaller and sharper. I'm not saying that a resolution increase is a bad thing, but there are times where it's unnecessary. Even though the iPad can play 1080p natively with this res, the bitrate from iTunes will make it seem about the same as

And what practical app will ever require this? Besides the smooth text, this is mind boggling as to why everyone seems to want these high res displays. You can forget about playing complex games at that res. Movies at that res will be a pain to download, even bigger pain to live stream, without a noticeable quality

This plus 1000. Tech fans will make great tech purchases, the average consumer will ask for, "the one from the TV ad."

The massive price drop was to get the device into more hands faster. From what I have read, many developers started seeing massive sale increases following the price drop.

There are a number of new features they never showed last time, Android App support for instance.

I think this is the biggest surprise.

The app store has been picking up lately, and many of the popular app developers are starting to support the Playbook. RIM also hired a company to get permission from developers/conversion duty for over 10,000 apps from the Android Market. RIM is reluctant to mention all the new features they added for some reason.

They already have a store for music and books, the video store is arriving with OS 2. Heh heh, I just got around to watching the other day, twas the first thing that sprung to mind.

Yeah, if people look at the two OSs without any additional apps installed. The QNX Tablet OS is just as smooth as iOS and better than Honeycomb. I haven't spent too much time looking at ICS but I'd say Playbook OS 2/BB OS 10 should be just as nice if they add DLNA.

Good God, I hope that OS 2 for the Playbook looks like that
