You’re exactly right. A baby’s cry is designed to trigger a response in adults to ensure it’s cared for. It’s tantamount to torture to keep people in that state when they can’t do anything about it. More often than not, the parent is cheerfully ignoring the noise and gazing at their phone.

She had her own childcare. What she’s moaning about is that they expected the child to be cared for outside the conference hall. She wanted the baby strapped to her while giving a talk.

You should have been embarassed. What you think is playing without disrupting anyone is disrupting everyone. You just don’t see it because you’re used to the noise and tune it out. Clearly the fact that you had to take her out because she was chattering also disrupted everyone.
