You can clean that ring with a 1 hr soak in 50/50 diluted simple green. Tape an old toothbrush to the handle-end of a wooden spoon (or similarly-long utensil) and brush the crud away. Isopropyl can also work, but you gotta scrub either way. Hope it helps.

I’ll add another example: Joe Biden’s lengthy and specific rundown of all the things he wants to do to combat gun-related violence and deaths. The goal is great, but the specificity of his proposals scared off a ton of centrist democrats and left-leaning (or at least socially liberal) republicans... and black & latino

For the longest time, I used to say that Harley Davidson makes the best window stickers and fringey leather jackets around. I will say this, though: their racing gear from the 70s and 80s looked great.

Porsche Design does, however, offer up some great wristwatches. This is one of my favorites. The movement in this thing is spectacular:

I take off the dealer stuff the moment I get the car home -- the plate thingy and the stick-on plastic badge -- they go straight to the bin.

I left the Rolls-Royce Owners Club a couple years ago, but they still keep sending me the merch catalog. I have no desire to wear ANY lifestyle-wear for any car company.

Cheers back to you! It’s whiskey, on ice, with a wee splash of water to open it up a bit.

Well, states administer their own elections, and counties are responsible for executing on everything. Add to that that partisan majorities in states establish district representation and can change voting rules as they wish. If we had a way to make everything consistent coast to coast it’d be different (and maybe

He’s a little freaked out, actually. Rumor has it that he’s got Parkinson’s, and the election news doesn’t bode well for his lot.

Many thanks! I just looked around and I’m all out of booze, but I’ll raise this glass of water to the moment.

God, it would be wonderful. All the same, the WH staff (like, for the building, not the appointees) probably do want to stay, so that they can work with a real administration one more time.

Megan McArdle is already starting to back away.

I read last week that the NatSec team is adding a layer of review before acting on any military decision or order that The Orange One makes over the next 75 days.

As much as I’ll be enjoying the sight of grim reality descending on the WH, there’s still 70 days of damage for The Orange One to do, and I think he’ll dig in with gusto. At the same time, The Orange One will be in some pretty serious crap on January 21st. While he may not be able to escape state charges (go Vance!)

Is it lefse? Looks like lefse. I’ll take lefse, please. Lefse now, coke later.

When I hear Sherrod Brown talk, he always stresses the “dignity of work”, which I think is a very powerful message. It’s not cast as a partisan thing, but it’s the first rung on a very long ladder that reaches towards respect and the elevation of all people... education, health care, safetfy, equal representation. it’s

The Beast, of course.

I was talking with my dad about this last night — basically saying that democrats need to play hardball. He took this to mean that we need to do direct voter outreach, all the time, showing up in neighborhoods and knocking on doors (tough to do this past year, admittedly). Sure, that will help, but it’s not going to
