My real life friends scourge me for not supporting Uber. Sorry, they’re bullshit and not apologizing for thinking they need to go above and beyond what a taxi company and regulations do in order to get my business.
I would never use Uber. In Australia, or in Melbourne at least, our taxis are bad enough. Nearly every woman I know either knows a woman who has been verbally harassed or sexually assaulted by a taxi driver or has been herself. I’m scared to use a taxi by myself at night. And these are the guys who are regulated by a…
As an Uber driver I will confirm that as of 9/11 a $15 trip is now only paying $11. Moral is really low amongst drivers right now. The discount takes about 6,500 dollars from a drivers yearly earnings. I don’t advocate anyone signing up to drive for Uber anymore.
It’s kind of crazy. They have better service, and their CEO isn't an egomaniac, so we don't hear much about them...

I guess the whole, non-rapey car service answers my question of why we don’t hear that much about Lyft.
Imagine Uber with driverless cars. Taxis too.
Every Uber driver on Gawker was jumping down my throat the other day for daring to suggest that Uber was a risky service with lax safety standards.
Lyft is soooo much better. I mean, they do want to talk to you the whole time and give fist bumps... but that’s better than being raped, I suppose.
This is why I use Lyft. They do better background checks, actually send a real human employee to interview/ride with new drivers, and are a smaller company with better control over their shit.
It’s just business as usual.
