This just goes to show you how big of a company Microsoft is. The console race is only a thing because Microsoft isn’t willing to dump a larger amount of money into it. They could buy Sony and Nintendo if they really wanted to (although it would be absurdly expensive and probably be unprofitable).

I feel bad for everyone who lost their jobs due to this, but this is the least surprising set of layoffs I’ve seen in a while. OWL and other Esports leagues were barely breaking even prior to the pandemic, so I can only imagine how poor their revenue was during 2020. That great Esports bubble article from here in 2019…

I’m getting the feeling that this game is gonna become the next Anthem level disappointment. However unlike Anthem it’ll be supported for years after launch and will hopefully become a good game with time.

Same reason with why there are incompetently managed teams in every field. Sometimes the right people don’t get put in the right position.

I feel like this is the type of game that will be dead two years after launch regardless if it’s good or not.

Recording literally everyone isn’t a good way to go about this. Just have it so that if someone is reported 3 times they get a temporary ban and three more reports result in a permanent one. Violating everyone’s privacy to guard against trolls is a terrible idea.

The closer we get to the launch of the PS5 the more I start to get that resting on your laurels feeling from Sony (maybe not as bad as post PS2 but still bad). These unnecessary, out of touch decisions are gonna cost them the generation if they aren’t careful.

This game is great but I do wonder about whether the game is gonna have the legs to keep going. The tasks can feel repetitive and it’s really only as fun as your friend group can make it so once enough people get bored I wonder if it’ll be able to maintain popularity.

I’m not usually cool enough to say that I was a fan of someone before they made it big but I can say that about this guy. Super talented and has quite the range of voices.
