My dude.

Sorry I’m late to the party but what about Audi’s 2.5L 5 cylinder? 400 hp and torque for days. One of the best engines ever

only still around because of packaging. It is small for its displacement.

I respectfully disagree. I have a 7.0L LS3 based engine built by Livernois Motorsports in my 2009 Corvette. It makes 555hp to the rear wheels, gets close to 30mpg on the highway, and makes a completely bonkers V8 noise through long tube headers and Corsa exhaust as you rev it out to 7,000rpm. Oh and it is as reliable

The LS is at least as qualified as any of the motors listed here. I don’t get the LS hate. It makes good power, it’s light weight, simple. Can be easily shoe-horned into just about any chassis.

I’m sorry not everyone adheres to your moral guidelines and how important you think anonymous internet comments are, but I think you’ll be OK.

My personal record is five times the speed limit.

i  mean fuck these guys and they should be fired for being so dumb and reckless but i love the cop report where they mention the PBT and that their speed gun was calibrated pre shift. Sure, Jan, sure. Thats typical cop speak.

And the fact that they were red, white, and blue is just peak Chevrolet.

Publicity stunt. They actually work in the marketing department.

From the citation of Thim:

I’d be curious how GM handles these guys. Fired, slap on the wrist, demotion, promotion??

Most rich people got that way through saving money.

i personally think it just shows rich people being completely out of touch with reality. i don’t think that person writing the article knows what daily driving a 3k car really entails. like, are you going to get fired for being late to work due to breakdowns? when does it make sense to stop repairing a 3k car? what if

The argument isn’t meant to hold up on a macro level to sustain the car market. It’s just saying that, from a purely practical and financial standpoint you shouldn’t spend much on a car, and thus you should likely buy cheap and used.

You get it! And for that, I gave you a star.

Our household income is about $150k. Wife drive’s a 2010 Camry and I drive a 200 E550 4matic. Benz was $12k when I bought it in may (50k miles!) and we bought the Camry off lease for $13k in 2013. People need to act their wage.

So the $60,000 income for a single person is about exactly me. My 5 year loan payment is $320 for a roughly $19,000 2015 car. Interest rate is 3.75%.

It’s all about rolling the dice. Yes you can buy a decent car off CL for $6K As someone who can work on his own cars and hasn’t taken a car to the shop outside of warranty work in 15 years, it’s not a problem. I can keep any one of those cars running probably pretty cheap for 3 years.

You, sir, are the hero we deserve.

I go by the 95% rule. 95% of my friends and family would be embarrassed to drive a car like mine. bonus - no one asks me for a ride
