I think if you took Elon and any stigma out of the Tesla world, I still probably couldn’t live with a Tesla. I could list many subjective/objective reasons for this, but I tend to avoid cars that are overly different mostly because:

What happens when the politicians ARE the lobbyists? When it’s their OWN interests they’re attempting to fulfill, like a politician writing laws that indirectly help his wife’s Drug Testing clinics? (Rick Scott).

Thank You

Well, with safety in mind, I’ll mention that I primarily drive a big 1500 EcoDiesel truck around, and I consider it to be a pretty safe vehicle, should I run into another car or they run into me. “Most Lug Nuts Wins”

I guess Porsche wasn’t safe from the late-90s, early-00s Plastoclypse.
Mustang Cobra:

I’m particularly entertained by people who have, over the years, collected Pogs, McDonald’s toys, Hess trucks, and Beanie Babies.

I mean there’s technically nothing wrong with that statement. There is enough information to theoretically drive the car based entirely on cameras. The issue is that their software processing of the video feeds isn’t in the same ballpark as even a teenager with a learner’s permit, so they should be using every crutch

I’m genuinely surprised Ford is sticking with NMC batteries and even investing in them for years to come with their new Michigan plant.

Why are fire departments using water to extinguish battery fires? Wouldn’t that be something they’d teach on Day 1 of firefighting school?

Imagine knowing you are going to burn to death, because you cannot open a door beside you. Before you argue there is a manual release, think about the situation and literally being on fire. Think you will find that lever? I’m not a Tesla fanboy, or hater, but that’s just awful.

Each person has different needs.

Look, here’s the deal. If I want to go EV, I have only Telsa’s on the list. The charging network for non-Teslas in my area sucks dead rats through a straw. But the Supercharger network is good enough for me to handle whatever curveball comes about.

I’m not a salesman, but my dad was and I remember a phrase he used to say: “Never try to sell a person the thing they need, sell them the thing they want.” It’s all about controlling the narrative that plays on one’s more primitive desires rather than their better judgement.

I don’t think State Assemblymen wake up very often and say “Hey, look what’s going on over there, we should do that.”

a simple rule that says all headlights must be mounted at or below a certain height from the ground.

lifted trucks/jeeps with the aftermarket LED light bar on for no reason.

A lot of the people pushing EVs seem blissfully unaware that most people can’t afford to buy a car to fit every single niche need they may have.

Not really a matter of correcting. Industry is good everywhere, it boosts the local economy, boosts the median income....yes boosts the cost of living, along with it. Industry can make a place attractive for outsiders to move, it can give locals more financial mobility to move out. Industry and growth has its benefits

I keep looking at these but my wife is dead set against a minivan.

Many PHEV owners also never plug them in. So they’re dragging around extra weight for nothing, further reducing the efficiency of the gas engines they still have to maintain.
