I agree with you on the fresh new looks and who it’s being aimed towards, but having been around Bentley, Rolls, Maybach, and a lot of those types of cars, a few things make the “old skool luxury” brands stand out:

I posted in my own thread, but I wanted to reiterate your point:

I’d configure mine for some other idiot that’s going to pay 50-Gs for a Corolla.

Maybe I could spare 10 minutes if I was writing this at the same time.

Truck Stops are IMO the IDEAL location for EV chargers, they usually have a restaurant or something like that inside, and lots of things to look at/buy to occupy your time.

This is your view because you likely live in a suburban or rural home. What about the many people that live in a city and don’t have access to a plug at night with which to charge their vehicles? They will still rely on public charging and are clear benefactors of the 10 minute charge time.

What about the huge population of people that can’t charge at home? And the generations of people under 30 who have basically no chance of owning a home before their 40s? Screw them, right?

Believe it or not, I had Cefiro headlights on my A32, there was a small gap I filled neatly with black RTV:

BIG DISAGREE, 2023 OUTLANDER PHEV WINS IN ALL OF THE ABOVE AND MORE! IT WON JAPAN TECHNONOGY CAR OF THE YEAR, THE GOOD DESIGN AWARD IN AUSTRALIA AND IT IS THE BEST SELLING PHEV IN THE WORLD!

The reason it hasn’t happened sooner is the enormous cost of installing EV charging. The costs are multi fold, the chargers and associated electric infrastructure isn’t cheap, then you have to decide do you lose existing parking for ICE or other customers OR do you build out a larger plan to account for EV charging

Them claiming it as a fire hazard is absolute hogwash. Granted, if you have a cord going through your front window, there could be a trip hazard or other problems.

10 minutes is a small price to pay, imo. But yeah, probably would charge at home most of the time.

You can see my reply to Mercedes Streeter, but IMO, street parking is going to be challenging for residents who park on the street. Otherwise, most apartment/condo people have access to a private lot/garage, even a private space. Condos have condo associations, Apartments and transient lodging will have to remain

Street parking is going to be a much bigger mess than apartments that have their own parking lot or garage. I’m pretty sure that if enough apartment renters or condo owners raise enough of a stink, they’ll get what they want. For many people, it’s going to be a necessity, and for apartments/condos to remain

I have a spreadsheet I’ve used to realistically compare my ICE vehicles to potential EV replacements. The $/kWh is hugely important in this calculation. If I’m overnight charging at home for my daily commute, EV is hugely cost efficient from a $/mile perspective.

I love finding a place that sells diesel just to find all the pumps are full of gassers. And half the time those are just treated like parking spots. It’s my favorite.

It is pretty nice to see the 30-series finally coming down in price.  I just bought a 3080Ti for $800

For the record, the A31 is really looking like something I would love to get my hands on.  It looks like a 4-door S13.

The Cefiro and Maxima only briefly crossed paths with the FWD A32 and A33, where they shared the same. The Infiniti I30/35 also joined in.

I don’t see why Pilot, QT, Raceway, Racetrack, Wawa, Walmart etc couldn’t start installing 2-4 charging stations like gas pumps into their locations, and then start putting them into their blueprints for future places.
