Yeah, that’s the reason I don’t listen to any of the new country these days. Although, this is my anthem for the next four years:
their hair is sexy and they don’t shave every day, and maybe they drink vodka or red wine instead of Miller Light, and they care about dressing stylishly...
Now don’t discount the real country singers out there. There are still artists who write and perform REAL country music.
Possibly because what passes for a clever lyrical concept in a modern country song works better as a bumper sticker.
I don’t know what vexes me more...the gender politics of these songs, or the way their singers assume this phony working class guise singing about pickup trucks and Georgia mud when you know they all split time between their gated McMansions in Nashville, and their penthouses in LA.
