I have a strong feeling Tesla went with the cylindrical approach primarily due to cost. From a technical standpoint, there isn’t much of a reason to go with them; the only benefit I can see is the metal shell structure that inherently resists deforming/expanding as the electrolytic material degrades. But that alone…

I’m not convinced you’re not just exchanging one service problem for another. Tesla service is definitely nothing special right now. Asking the same question gets a different answer from everyone you talk to. And good luck even getting a service appointment for problems with your brand new car that Tesla knew about…

The first Electrify America station in Michigan is underway now. I am excited to use it! I am glad they future proofed these stations as 350kW capable. That is a crazy amount of power.
