Here’s one from the same spot in 2006. Local trying to take a picture. He lived but his camera didn’t. After this the authorities shut down fan access to this area but now it’s open again. It’s just outside Ensenada and easily accessible to a huge population. It’s called the Ojos Rollers.

I don’t think you have a firm grip on this race.  The Baja 1000 is the biggest,baddest, continuous point to point race in the world. Typically there are over 350 entrants from over 30 countries. From what I’ve read VW’s are still kinda “funky” in the reliability department.

We put 160,000 on ours but it was a pain in the butt.
